I know I've played this game a very long time ago, but I don't think it was on the NES. Probably from one of Namco's arcade collections. Maybe on an actual arcade cabinet. Maybe I played Tank Battalion, instead. Dang it, Moe! Why did you have to go and make me stop being productive to try and figure out which old-as-dirt tank game I played once as a child?

Call to Adventure is a excellent song, but it seems too upbeat for a game about tank warfare. Need something more gritty, I think.

You're welcome lmao, I'm on this site to make people less productive uwu

And thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to play this and sharing your thoughts.

Game is alright. I can't fit the entire screen on my main monitor, so I have to play it on the secondary (it has a different resolution). Deaths can feel pretty cheap when an enemy appears from off screen suddenly and immediately sends out half a dozen shots in my direction. Controls don't feel "tight" but it plays well enough to not matter. Solid job with the text by Cyberdevil and larrynachos always produces excellent music.

MoeAnguish responds:

Thanks for playing!

Not a bad prototype. Almost reached 20000 points, too. Movement needs fine-tuning, for sure. If I didn't use rope perfectly, Joey would just touch a block and fall back down. His movement is too fast for proper jumping, as well. Some levels were just Joey getting bum-rushed by three or four ghosts the moment the level began. That's a cheap way to die and lose all of one's progress.

I'm surprised you went with music from Macleod, though maybe that's a placeholder, as well. I'm sure you could have found something more refreshing on Newgrounds, rather than drink from the same well as numerous other creators.

Working on this and Syrup's game must be exhausting. Don't overexert yourself, Moe. It's important, sure, but if you strain yourself too much now, you might not be able to continue doing it in the long run.

MoeAnguish responds:

Thanks for playing, and you're right about the movement, it definitely needs some more work and it's on my to-do list for this project. and yeah, i just thought it sounds nice and it was the first thing i found, so i went with it. but next time i might as well go on here to look for something better.

And don't worry, my dude. i'm used to working a lot, and besides, if there's good thing coming from these projects (Money, fulfillment, etc) then i don't mind it. gotta give something of the same value as what you're trying to get in order to actually get it imo. but thanks for the advice, i do think i need more breaks instead of maybe once a week.

Not a bad game at all. Many of the choices were pretty obvious, but I was surprised by the results of a few and that made the adventure all the better.

Glad to have you back, KuFuSpaBa!

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

always glad to see you here!

There's nothing particularly special about the adventure, but it does make for a good distraction until you've finished something "meatier" to consume.

Welcome back, KuFuSpaBa.

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

that's all i could ever hope for ;)

I am a badass... and I shit myself. Yeah!

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

pooping in my paaaaaaants! bertn1991 will always have a special place in my barbarian heart

I hope you don't mind that the only thing I was really interested in was figuring out why I was polluting my britches this time around. Assuming it was during a bad ending, I didn't expect to hear it as early as I did and laughed as a result. That fact that my character still scored afterwards makes the whole thing that much better.

The pizza did a terrible job of keeping me alive... must have been veggie or pineapple or some other weak, shitty variation. Throw some meat on that bitch next time so I can regain a reasonable amount of health. <3 Love you, KuFuSpaBa <3

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

Next time bacon pizza will give you a big boost! But eating too much will cause more shits. Ah, the tradeoffs.

How did I become the Ultimate Badass?
I shit myself, of course!

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

Pooping in my pants....

This is considerably better than your other games, and it's great to see you continuing to improve upon yourself. On top of that, fellow members of Newgrounds have provided you with a wonderful selection of music (not a bad song in the bunch), and I love imagining every monster and character in the style of Butzbo's art. Overall, it's a fantastic experience from all aspects, KuFuSpaBa, and I would like to thank everyone who helped you to make it possible.

I just wish I didn't keep forgetting the names of everyone and the choices I make from previous playthroughs, but those are faults of my own.

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, the musicians are all really awesome :) I messaged all of them specifically for use of their songs- I wanted a little variety in the sound; some classic battle drums and Asian sounding music, mixed with some old school video game style music so players could pick the style they liked best.

I think it would be super awesome to write a game for @butzbo with full graphics - I love that art style so much XD

A strong improvement over the previous games though it feels short in a similar manner to Frostfall and Moonbright. Different paths give the impression of a branching storyline, but all them quickly lead back to the same area to meet with the shyfter. This makes the area surrounding the cove seem like a really small place to explore. Still a great game. I think you encouraged my imagination a little too much, which, in turn, led me to disappoint myself once I realized how quickly I was able to reach multiple endings.

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

There are a few endings that don't lead to the shyfter meeting. One branch let's you rescue Edge from prison and escape with the pirates, or search for a flying castle with a dragon in it. Another let's you free edge from a sacrifice and escape with the pirates alive. But yeah, most do lead to that shyfter encounter. The variants are harder to get to. Thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts! My next one splits into two totally separate games after the first city so I'm excited to share that :)
