I think it might be a bit too simplified for an actual level (regardless of the forecast), but it's charming af and I could definitely imagine this as small town or shop music.

Great job, Filip.

Thanks for the kind words Phro. :)

Even at a faster tempo, it just takes too long to build up to something enjoyable. What's worse is that this one "sounds" like it's sped up. It doesn't fit with the music naturally, or, at least, I don't think it does, so the whole thing seems kinda off... like when somebody does a Nightcore version of a popular song. One can tell right away that it wasn't meant to be played at that particular speed, but somebody did it anyhow. I don't know.

Maybe I'm typing out my ass again, but I prefer the original Gawd Fonk.

I don't mind the slower tempo. It's still going at a head-bobbin' speed that I rather enjoy, but I can't really get into the groove until around 3:47.

This certainly is bringing the funk. Possibly even the groove. One can only hope that the finished piece will bring both and neglect neither.

This is what I would imagine hearing while the pilot was exploring an uncharted planet, rather than peacefully waiting to die on it. With exception to that, I enjoy it. Great job.

Certainly goes with the art. No doubt about that. I wish this was a minute shorter (I know the rule about three minutes being the minimum.) There just isn't enough variety to keep my attention throughout the entire song.

Madze responds:

You caught me here :) I guess the piece would have been shorter if it wasn't for the rule

I don't think it matches the artwork too well. I view your music as calm, peaceful, maybe even directionless meditation, while the art strikes me as being more focused and intense. I see it as the kind of meditation one undergoes for a specific reason. That's just my interpretation, however, so it won't hold any weight in my score.

Overall, I feel that the piece can be a little too quiet at times, but it's beautiful nonetheless.
Thank you.

Ceevro responds:

Actually, I was wondering if anyone would call me out on that. The artwork is certainly more intense than the finished piece. Once I took out the percussion, the music lost that intensity.

If the artwork were blue, we'd have a match, I think.

Sadly, one works with what one has!

I've never played Mirror's Edge, but this did make me think of Ghost in the Shell quite a bit. While I still believe this is a fantastic piece of music, it also feels like you were being a little... uh, "safe" with it. The whole thing began to sound kinda samey for last few minutes.

zybor responds:

Most idm have similar structure and they do start out slowly.

Thanks for the review :)

If somebody had told me this was ripped from a VG OST, I would have bought into that lie without question. On the one hand, it fits the art perfectly and I enjoy it considerably. On the other, this does nothing to stand out from numerous other songs I've heard from actual game soundtracks over the years, and that means so much to me. I want to listen to this and know that it's from you. I don't want to stop what I'm doing to try and remember who and where I got this song from each time I hear it on my player. I still want this on my playlist though. It's just too darn charming to ignore.

Thank you, Mr. Grail.
