The guy does nothing wrong. He isn't terrible in battle. It's just that he isn't Karna. He isn't the "best" option and most fans of the game tell me they always want and will choose Karna for that reason. Tyrin the goblin-looking elf deserves more love (and TiS fan art), too.

Your art does bring up an interesting comparison. Max seemed more formal and professional as a protagonist while Bowie is more emotionally driven to fight, and the player can see that just from their battle sprites alone.

A frog selling frogs... kind of weirds me out. It's like ridding yourself of your family for some extra cash. If I don't think about it, then the whole thing is adorable and one of those frogs clearly likes the idea of being sold.
While making it, my brain was thinking video-gamey, like you buy a frog to use somewhere special to progress, then it hops away.
Also while making it, my brain thought it was kinda strange with a Frog-Selling-Frogs situation, which makes his happy dance sorta unsettling as he sells out his kind...
I'll keep it ambiguous for peace of mind. :P
