I'm starting to notice a trend in your subject matter. Always neat to see love for lesser-known characters in video games.

"Sorry guys, I haven’t really been making any artwork that involves painting or coloring. Paintings take a whole lot of time..." - Please don't apologize for that. You should always create in such a way that is comfortable for you, regardless of how long that might take between each piece. Still, this is an excellent sketch and if you're aiming to create more like it, then I have no complaints.

"I hope it works out for me." - I'm positive it will!

"for whatever reason, it looks... strange to me" - It's probably the rain frozen in place. I guess you could add minor looping animation to the falling water if that would put your mind at ease. I think it's fine as is.

"not really sure what category this would fit under..." - I do believe "illustration" is a proper category for this piece. It's not a finished work, so not having it posted in the art portal is a wise decision. If you're ever unsure of yourself about anything on NG, don't hesitate to either ask a site moderator or label it as "other." That's a safe option.

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I have a huge soft spot for less popular characters - mainly the Mario ones, but there are other fandoms where I like less popular characters. Sure, there are characters that I like that are more popular, but finding or even creating art of obscure characters is always so nice since it's pretty rare. I even take the time out of my day to search for any new art of them every now and again.

I agree with what you said, and I should have worded it better. Trying to break those bad habits.

I don't intend on animating this, but rather paint it if I feel compelled to do so. I understand where you are coming from, but I was referring to the perspective view.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. :)

When I wished you a warm and delightful Christmas this year on the previous piece, I didn't mean this warm! Heh.

I can't say I fully understand the logic of the name, but I do love Halloween for Christmas. It's like having breakfast for dinner. Overall, this is cute (and nostalgic) to see it sketched onto some notebook paper. I did that a lot as a kid on the side of my bed since I hated using a desk. Now, I use cheap sketch paper I bought at a grocery store on a cheap folding table. Big upgrade, you know. Definitely don't finish this. It was a spur-of-the-moment piece and putting in more effort would take away the charm of its spontaneity. As for the subject matter, seeing someone set the tree on fire and grinning as they film it burning does strike me as something extreme a person might do for short-term online attention. Then again, depending on how long the tree is filmed, I'd consider using it as crackling background noise during Christmas... like one of those eight-hour yule log/fireplace videos on YouTube that some people put on to help them relax. Actually, I guess fire isn't so scary after all when you think of it like that.

Thank you, Toggle.

i knew the title wasn't as clever as i thought it was XP
thanks for the wonderful review, i loved reading this so much.

Since you won't explain, I will assume these are three authentic Santas all wishing to deliver gifts to the same good children and that the only reasonable solution is to have a St. Nick slamfest of seasonal slobberknocking. The winner is the one who doesn't get tossed off the roof and they get to claim all the gifts meaning they get all the Santa credit for handing them out. My money is on Octavio since he looks to be the biggest and toughest of the Santas. Is the wrapped gift he carries a reference of some sort? It has a distinct shape to it, so I figured I should ask. Also, you should give yourself more credit when it comes to backgrounds. Most art I look at doesn't provide anything but a white void. You go that extra mile to ensure your viewers receive a complete Cami experience. Thank you for your hard work.

ICam2k responds:

I probably would explain, but since this is just a cute "which one's better" type of drawing, there's not really much for me to do so. Plus, interpretations are always welcome regardless.
I'm betting on BigMan (mostly for causing me to come up the name "Manta Claus" to be a thing, albeit short lived) and has the Sunshine's Manta Storm to get around, but I won't debate on DJ Octavio. The dude does look pretty strong despite him relying on his Octobot mech in most of his fights. What, the Wasabi sticks? They are in fact his "instruments" of sorts that he carries when he controls his octobot while DJ-ing. Pretty good reason why he calls his mixes "spicy". lol
There are often times where wish myself to take it easy and start making simpler characters drawings, but my perfectionism just keeps sticking in at every opportunity. Heh, "Cami experience".

There's so many little details! I originally assumed this was pixel art until I zoomed in and marveled at all the colors and decorations and whatever you did to Big Man. He's stunning.

"Is it wrong if I say that this one's another favourite of mine despite its rough spots?" It'd be wrong if you didn't say this was one of your favourites!

ICam2k responds:

You're not wrong about assuming that this was "pixel art". I tend to draw characters rather small in higher scale artworks like this. heh
Really glad that I'm not the only one who feels this way because it performed rather poorly compared to my other artworks in other sites, even on dA. Such is the nature of the algorithm.

One of my old dogs was like this when I introduced her to snow. Stood there and looked at me. I had to go back inside, grab a shovel, and clear away a spot for her to squat. Snow would cover the area again, and I'd have to repeat the process. Not sure who's going to clear away a spot for Rust without the owner around. I always appreciate art that brings back fond memories, so thank you for that.

Not much of a change from the previous drawing of Rust. If anything, one might consider it a little less ambitious due to the simpler, more neutral pose that highlights very little interaction with the snow day that this image is titled after. Still, Rust is super adorable and I am very much a sucker for canines of all sorts. Hopefully, both you and Rust will have a warm and delightful Christmas this year.

ToggleDragon responds:

i'm glad i got to bring you back some memories with this.
this completely neutral pose of just standing and staring is the only way i could think of him reacting to snow without being out of character, and i didn't want to work with anyone else because they get too much attention from me already. i appreciate you having more than 2 words to say about my art, and i hope you have a better christmas than me because i always get sick in december for some reason.
(i'm most likely fine)

You're posting more Christmaugust art... but in December?!

I do love the "half-baked" background stuff and it took me a few minutes to realize those two behind Big Man were palette-swapped appearances of Shiver and Frye. I do not get any of the references but I'm glad you didn't add any Easter eggs. That's a completely different holiday altogether.

ICam2k responds:

Ooops! Guess I should've bought myself a calender. (or maybe my phone is outdated)

Awww, you love "half-baked" bgs too?? Your're awfully kind! I don't mind these bgs either, as long as they look pleasing in the eye. Assuming they aren't the kind that rely on rainbow barfed out on every corner, anything goes.
Cephalopods are capable of changing colours and textures of their skin (with the slight exception of squids, but inklings can still do that, so I guess it doesn't matter). That's why I'd like to call them "sea chameleons". Aka, pretty much my favourite thing that these beings can do. It brings some extra punch to some of my drawings in which other characters are unable to do besides fashion change.
Most of them are based on various sea creatures displayed here (for instance, the sea angel). I'd like to add the ones from the series, but again, good enough is still good.

DMA giving The Mewx the big succ seems like something that deserves a more mature rating. Less importantly, how far did this phenomenon extend? Is the house still there at least? If not, should the rest of us be worried?

Mewx responds:

You should be worried. Refer to these with how dangerous he is lol

No clue what My Singing Monsters is... *looks it up* I now possess a clue as to what My Singing Monsters is. Ghazt seems a little... creepy. Your change to its eyes and the simple greeting gesture really softens the appearance. Makes it far more approachable and arguably cute.

ToggleDragon responds:

thank you for giving me an actual review. i never get enough of those.

I "wonder" if this was inspired by the giant Mario scene from the Koop-zilla episode of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. I also wonder how they tie their shoes like that... among other issues.

ICam2k responds:

I completely forgot about this episode (along with the Red hood one) while working on this drawing until now. Which is odd, I remember watching the entirety of Super Show on Youtube too, including the live skits. To be frank though, pretty much the majority of the Mario series as we know IS inspired by Super Show, so anything goes.

Fresh Halloween content is appreciated all year round and this group seems to represent the three major groups of the holiday - Big Man's the happy treaters you feel inclined to give extra treats for their enthusiasm as they stand at your door. Shiver's the bunch who want to dress up and decorate for scares, but sometimes they take it too far, too. Frye's neither scary nor cute, so she's clearly on the "mature" team who use this as an excuse to cosplay... for reasons. Clearly, I would join Big Man's group on this one.

ICam2k responds:

Frye felt to dress for the spirits. Splatoween spirits it seems.
That being said, same same. May have joined mostly for the Splatfest teams presented (went with the Ghosts between Zombies and Skeletons and guess what, they were winners, yes.) but also because BigMan's costume was just too cool. Simple, but still cool.
