"Oh boy! A copy of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine? You shouldn't have!"

I don't believe I've ever played a genuine Puyo Puyo before but I've always been a fan of the exaggerated designs and bright colors of the characters. None are as glorious as Robotnik, of course, but the games themselves never grabbed me like Tetris, Panel de Pon, or even Dr Mario had. Still, the Mean Bean variation I played was far more enjoyable than every iteration of Puzzle Bobble I ever tried to get into, so maybe I should give Puyo Puyo another go. I mean, there's even one that comes with Tetris *looks it up* ...wait, there's two of those now! Well, if did give it another go, which version would you recommend or are they all basically the same and it doesn't really matter?

ICam2k responds:

"You deserve it! Now make sure you don't dip it with beans like last time."
I do like dr. Mario (whenever I play it casually at least), but I think the 64 one is probably the best out there because *surprise* it doesn't just contain characters, they're actually ones from Wario land 3 of all people. Not just Wario, I'm talking about Rudy the clown also being in, as in the final boss from that same game. Don't know what came to Big N for making that decision, but whatever, I'm still taking it. More Wario, the merrier.
As far as localized Puyos go, the Puyo Puyo Tetris is often recomended since it is the most accessible out there, although there's 1 and 2. I do think 2 is a better bet since it has more content compared to 1. (granted I admit I still have yet to play these two, I'm mostly just going from what I've seen)
While I still think Fever is my favourite game, I feel it does get pretty intense thank to how quick the CPU stacks in the puyo chains, and the Fever mode dishes even more garbage since it gives free chains in the 20 second time limit (that mode gets activated only by filling in the gauge by countering garbage). Granted, I still think you will find some enjoyment out of it. Challenge is challenge... and also cheesy voice acting.
Now for ones that aren't released outside but are later thanks to fanwork, Fever 2 does make it a bit easy by adding in items that could be used before the match starts, but it's still consistently challenging. (although that game has yet to be fully translated to this day)
There are also the anniversary games and while 20th is most popular, 15th is the better one since unlike Fever (which focuses on one gimmick, hence the title) it provides different modes to try out (one of these where the whole board is obscured by dark and only the light emited by the swinging lightbulb shows a ittle bit of the board and have to go with that for instance). It also has the most variety of characters, both the Compile ones and the Sega fever ones which is a plus.
Speaking of which, if the ones from Compile interest you the most, Puyo Puyo Tsu is neat bet since this is the game that introduces the ability to counter garbage, as well as challenging more opponents via the tower sections, although ports like the Saturn/PS1 would later provide more modes. And Puyo Puyo Sun allows playable characters besides just going with Arle and it introduces a new gimmick through the sun puyos.
(phew, that's a lot of writing)
I'm a lot more familiar with these characters thanks to YTP, but Mean Bean Machine does have pretty stellar pixel art (which is pretty impressive for a localised game). That being said, AOSTH is arguably a fun show. No matter what iteration he's in, Robotnik still remains to be enjoyble. "I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG!"

Did the one at the bottom just break through a chain link fence (AND very super durable police tape!) with a simple push of her hand? If you stack them on top of each other like this, is it fair to call this a dogpile?

I like the designs of these three (especially the one on the top), but nothing tells me anything about their personalities. I would never have guessed they were siblings, either. Is this part of a comic? Is there more to check out?

Ferrohound responds:

Ty! Yes, Dusk is quite a force to be reckoned with ( see my Combat Baby piece lol ). They're only half siblings so most people don't realize until they're told! No comic or game yet but maybe sooner rather than later now that I have a bit more time on my hands to think!

Love the angle. Not sure what's going on so I will assume the simple domain turns "Useless (bunny) Miwa" into a sketch of herself. I've watch every episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, but it never managed to really connect with me. It's flashy and fun to watch, like Demon Slayer, though I've not been given much of a reason to care about anyone or how anything works. Still, "flashy and fun" to an artist basically means "cool-ass drawing ideas" like this one.

Ferrohound responds:

That's too bad, it's honestly a really good read imo but that's fair!

Not that there were any wrong choices in that game, but, yes, I was very much a part of Team Katt and, surprisingly enough, not because she's a cute catgirl (I prefer dogs), a tomboy, or because she wanders around the world without wearing any pants. It had been the first time I ever played a game where one of the female characters was the aggressive powerhouse of the team and that caught my childhood self off guard. Her fusion is an absolute treat, as well.

As for the piece, the pose is a little too simple. Great overall look (nice butt, of course) but this showcases none of her spunky personality.

Still appreciate seeing any and all love that BoF2 receives though, so thank you.

Ferrohound responds:

Hey, thanks for taking the time, thanks for the feedback; you are most welcome! I feel you on the pose, I wanted to go for something simple to start and I have a slightly more dynamic one in the works so look forward to that in the next couple weeks haha

Not entirely sure what's going on, but it does have all your usual detail work to appreciate and I have done something similar by suddenly presenting cake and a present to a coworker before in celebration of their un-birthday for no better reason than because I thought it would be a fun surprise to cheer them up.

What was in that little red box?

ICam2k responds:

Hope the coworker enjoyed the cake regardless.

Oh nothing, just some fine jewerly, courtesy of the Onaga clan.

Which level of Katana ZERO is this from? The mall level? Is this from the mall level, Syrup? I read the description but it didn't specify whether or not this is from the mall level.

Syrupmasterz responds:

It is with mild regret, that I must inform you that this is NOT the mall level from Katana ZERO.

Guy sounds like a real charmer. Sadly, that experience extends to the non-election years, as well. At least it provided you with a moment of artistic inspiration though clearly not a pleasant one.

I've made this kind of joke about other games, especially Zelda 2 and those Horsehead % runs where the poor guy is just constantly takes a beating every 5 minutes from runners. At least these three only have to worry about being covered in paint. Imagine if Shiver had to deal with being repeatedly stabbed by an undersized magical sword. Should I assume Frye's battle is an indirect one since she seems to be the only one unaffected by this?

ICam2k responds:

It's even funnier because it puts into perspective about how these boss fights fair in other different gameplay acts, especially speedrunning. While they're considered to be too easy, even for casuals, they're actually a godsend for speedrunners since they don't have to worry about patterns or gimmicks to invest their time on avoiding while going for the fastest time.
Uuumf, that would've hurt even more, even with her shark by her side.
Yep. Pretty impressive for a first boss even.

First, Garfield mimics Heathcliff for success. Now, he's piggybacking off of the passionate bond between two of the most iconic characters in the history of video games. Has he no shame?

"Why are you reading about some other dork in green attire when you got me, Mario?" - Luigi, probably. Also, I kind of want Mario's chair. It's red (I like red) and charming.

Hopefully, the accounting job has been a pleasant experience thus far. I'll assume it is. It clearly is. I'm glad you are enjoying your work. The best job ever, you say? Whoa, calm down now, assumed-version of hard-working Cami!

ICam2k responds:

A dork in green attire... WAIT I THINK I GOT IT, IT'S BOOGERMAN!
Nice to know that the chair is still looking neat.
Oh that job? That has been long ago. I switched to a different one where it involves school assistance and such. I think it's fine for me. Granted I forgot to add in while filling in the description boxes, so my bad.
